Automotive Technical Update Workshop
For Mississippi Instructors Only

On November 21-22, 2019, the Resource Center and Meridian Community College Workforce Development Center will team up to sponsor teacher technical update workshops for Mississippi instructors in the field of Automotive. This workshop will be held at the Riley Workforce Development Training Center, Meridian Community College, Meridian, MS.

Registration is now open. The registration deadline for the workshop is November 11, 2019.

  • January 23-24, 2020 – Cosmetology, Shelton State CC, Tuscaloosa
  • February 6-7, 2020 – Automotive / Collision Repair, Bevill State CC, Sumiton
  • February 13-14, 2020 – Building Construction / Electrical, BEJATC, Birmingham
  • February 26-28, 2020 – Welding, Local 372 Training Center, Tuscaloosa

NOCTI Exam Registration

NOCTI testing is now being scheduled for fall 2019 for instructors who need the NOCTI for their certification. Exams are being scheduled individually to help meet your schedule.

If you don’t know if you need to take the NOCTI, please contact Julie Turner at the Alabama CTE Department. All tests must be paid in advance, and purchase orders are accepted.

There is no deadline to register for an individual testing date; however, please allow approximately two weeks for us to receive the test once you order it. The test is given in Tuscaloosa at the Tuscaloosa Library. All teachers who register will receive specific instructions with time, meeting room, and directions to the library.

Resource Center Celebrates 25th Anniversary

The Resource Center celebrated its 25th Anniversary during the annual Welding  and Construction workshop held February 28-March 1, 2019. Over 100 welding and building  construction teachers were on hand for the celebration. Numerous business and industry representatives were in attendance as well as Career and Technical leaders from the State Department of Education.

During the lunch hour State Assistant Superintendent and Career Technical Education Director Tommy Glasscock spoke to the group. Mr. Glasscock congratulated the Resource Center for the many years of providing technical update workshops as well as other services to Alabama CTE teachers. After the talk by Mr. Glasscock, Bob Kimbrell, Director of the Resource Center, presented awards to several local industry members for their longtime support of the Resource Center.
