Education by Design Technical Training
Conference - Innovative, Interactive, Fun!
The Education by Design Technical Training Conference (EbD)
is the first conference of its kind. It’s the conference career
technical teachers, vendors and industry have been asking for, and now that it’s
here, wouldn’t you like to be part of it?
For many years, we've heard what teachers have said about the ideal
conference:
- You want information that directly relates to your program.
- You want
workshops that will help you be a better teacher.
- You want presentations from
people who understand what career technical education is about.
- And you want
time to spend with the vendors who have the products and resources you're
looking for.
That’s why the Education by Design Training Conference stands out from
the rest...it's designed to specifically meet your needs!
What is EbD?
Not quite a trade show, not quite a workshop…EbD is a
combination of information and skills teachers need to enhance instruction. The
planning committee is working hard to make sure EbD provides
real opportunities for teachers to improve classroom instruction. There
will also be an emphasis on how to incorporate green technology in the
curriculum.
EbD is sponsored by business and industry, along with the
Career Technical Consortium and the Resource Center.
- The Career Technical Consortium (CTC) is a membership organization of
career technical teachers and administrators from Alabama secondary and
postsecondary education.
- The Resource Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization offering technical
update training and professional development workshops to career technical
teachers.
Workshops and other activities are being planned by business/industry and
vendors. These events will be designed to provide real information useful in the
classroom. There will be breakout sessions during the conference, as well as
scheduled demonstrations and activities in the exhibit area.
EbD will be the biggest networking event of the
year. It will be attended by:
- Secondary career technical teachers and administrators
- Postsecondary career technical teachers and administrators
- Private school instructors
- Apprentice trainers
- Business and industry trainers
This is the first conference to bring teachers and trainers from all these
areas together in one place to learn and network together. And,
it's the first conference in about 30 years open to both secondary and
postsecondary teachers at the same time.

this page, or contact us if you need more

Questions?
Here are some questions we've received so far...
What are the hours for the conference?
-
Hours on June 3 are 9:00 to 4:00. The exhibits will open at
8:00, but the conference doesn't officially start until 9:00 to allow
drive-in time that morning. That might save some of you a hotel room the
night before.
-
Hours on June 4 are 8:00 to 3:00.
Can I use Perkins funds to register?
Is this conference sponsored by the State Department of
Education?
-
Nope. The EbD conference is developed by
teachers, business and industry, and others who are simply interested in
helping educators. The concept was developed by the Resource Center and the
Career Technical Consortium. The details of the conference have been planned
by a state-wide committee of business and education leaders, based on input
from teachers and administrators from both secondary and postsecondary
education.
What about the fun part?
-
Hmmm...guess you'll just have to be there! If you're not
there, you'll miss the activities planned in the exhibit area, not to
mention the networking opportunities you won't get anywhere else. Oh, did we
mention the door prizes and cash drawings??
How will I earn professional development credit?
What about local hotels?
